About Us: Our Story

This year Bea Day Plumbers celebrates 24 years of service to the Iowa City/Coralville community and surrounding areas.

Our business was established in 1980 by Jane Hagedorn and Ginny Blair, who had a goal of seeing more women involved in the contracting trades, and who sought to provide high-quality plumbing remodel and service work.

By 1987, the business had grown to such an extent that Ginny began her own company, Rose Water Plumbers, and Jane became the sole owner of Bea Day Plumbers.

While Rose Water Plumbers focuses primarily on plumbing service and repair work, Bea Day Plumbers specializes in remodeling. The two companies coordinate work on various jobs, continuing their original mission of providing high-quality plumbing work.

Despite the growth of our business, Bea Day Plumbers has made a conscious choice to remain small. This decision allows our two work crews to maintain stringent quality control and a high standard of service.

We were honored to receive three Community Development Block Grant Awards from the City of Iowa City's Committee on Community Needs in 1990, 1992, and 1997. More recently, we became the small business 2002 Winner of the Greater Iowa Better Business Bureau® Integrity Award.

Our specialties include residential remodeling, extensive expertise in old-house plumbing, and subcontracting on new construction projects. We also do commercial remodeling and new construction, and provide service work to our customers. A majority of our work comes via referrals from satisfied customers, and we usually have a fairly full schedule. The work crews at Bea Day Plumbers emphasize attention to detail and cleanliness at the jobsite. We're aware that it's not just a work site – it's our customer's home.
